Hello!
I’m Thalia Echevarria Fiol. I design icons for a living, which basically means I spend a lot of time thinking about tiny shapes.

I started my career at Apple as a type design intern and stayed for more than a decade. During that time I became the lead designer of SF Symbols, Apple’s library of iconography. Along the way I designed more than 10,000 icons and gave five WWDC talks about the craft of building a visual language used by millions of people every day.

Today I work at OpenAI, where I lead iconography.

When I’m not designing icons, I’m usually printing them. I run a small letterpress setup with a Chandler & Price Pilot I restored (and soon as Vandercook no. 4!), where I experiment with typography, metal and wood type, ink, and paper.
I created Iconic to share thoughts, stories, and small observations about this craft I love. Thanks for stopping by.
